Hunter Wine Lab was founded in 2020 by Nathan Heuston and Leonie Di Lorenzo. With a passion for farming, producing quality wines, and enjoying all that life in the Hunter Valley has to offer, the duo works tirelessly to deliver a quality product, a great experience, and education to all visitors.
Visitors to the Hunter Wine Lab cellar door on well-known Hermitage Road are treated to a once in a lifetime experience. Operating out of a unique space incorporating the cellar door into the winery, guests are treated to a truly immersive experience and are guided through the process of winemaking from growing to glass.
Where tradition meets innovation
Hunter Wine Lab brings a fresh perspective to winemaking in the Hunter Valley. Combining traditional techniques with contemporary innovations, we focus on both classic and modern varieties. Our approach emphasises minimal intervention while utilising research and development to enhance the natural character of the wine.
The Hunter Wine Lab portfolio includes traditional varieties like Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Shiraz, and Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as newer varietals and styles such as Prosecco Rosé, Tempranillo, and Sangiovese.
We will maintain old world techniques like open fermentation, and hand and feet plunging, to treat the product with respect, whilst enhancing the development and expression of our product with innovative techniques like blending and aeration, and use of heritage yeasts and organic fining products.
